Housing NPOs and community-based organizations

Housing for diverse clienteles

To meet the wide variety of housing needs in the city's population, the SHDM has delegated the management of nearly 2,300 apartments and more than 300 rooms to non-profit organizations whose mission is to offer support to various clienteles. These clienteles can consist of low-income individuals in the process of reintegrating society after experiencing homelessness, or people with physical or mental disabilities. These organizations take care of the allocation of the housing units, the management and maintenance of the buildings and they coordinate the services offered to the tenants. These housing units are offered as part of the PALL and PAMAC programs.

Services that benefit the whole community

In addition, the SHDM and the NPOs concerned jointly develop partnerships with community-based organizations by providing premises and invaluable logistical support. Interventions such as homework help, assistance to re-integrate into the labour market and psycho-social support benefit both the tenants in need and the community. The SHDM’s involvement in these initiatives expands year by year. For example, in 2014, we contributed to the opening of a vocational integration workshop, La Fabrique à Bouffe.

Ad hoc projects

In addition to its day-to-day activities, the SHDM use its expertise and financial capacity to support the implementation of ambitious community projects that need time to materialize. From the temporary acquisition of property to the sharing of expertise in construction work management, the possibilities are endless and every project is unique. For example, in 2014, the SHDM purchased a building and managed its conversion into a shelter for the Projet autochtone du Québec organization, which was able to acquire it once its funding was completed.

In accordance with the Act respecting access to documents held by public bodies and the protection of personal information, to which the SHDM is subject as a public body, the supplier consents to the disclosure of his data entered in this registration form.

The SHDM appreciates your interest and thanks you for having filled out this form. By being on our list of suppliers, we will be able, if necessary, to invite you to send us a quotation (bid).
SHDM is under no obligation of any kind to suppliers who fill out the form.
