Questions about renting affordable housing with SHDM?

Applicants must demonstrate that they have sufficient income to pay their rent, agree to a credit check, and comply with the specific terms of the lease and the rules of the residential building.

Some rental housing units may be subject to maximum income criteria, as they are part of government-subsidized programs. When this is the case, the details are provided in the listing description and proof of income must be submitted with the housing application.

  • “ Pour tous” (for all) units are available to individuals, couples, or families who are able to sign a lease.
  • “Autonomie+” units are designed to meet the needs of independent individuals aged 55 and over.

The requests are processed in the order in which they are received. The waiting time for a response is usually less than a week.

The possibility of having pets may vary from one rental building to another. Tenants should inquire and discuss this before signing the lease.

If allowed, pets must be domestic animals that do not cause inconvenience to other residents or damage to the property. Specific rules regarding the movement of pets within the building may also apply.
