At a press conference held on February 20, the Government of Canada announced $11.6 million in funding for Le Christin, an SHDM building entirely dedicated to combating homelessness and managed by Accueil Bonneau.
This funding announcement complements the contributions from the Government of Quebec and the City of Montreal that were already announced at the building’s inauguration in 2024.
“In a context where the need for social and affordable housing is significant, the SHDM is proud to carry out projects like Le Christin. It is through collaboration with our community, private and public partners that we can develop real estate projects to meet the need for affordable housing for a diverse range of clients, including vulnerable individuals. Le Christin is a concrete example of this,” said Sophie Rousseau-Loiselle on this occasion.
