Gordon project: construction is underway to provide 84 new affordable homes in Verdun

The start of construction marks an important step toward transforming this vacant building into affordable housing, ranging from studios to one and two‑bedroom units.
Acquired by the SHDM in 2024, the building will undergo major upgrades: part of the building envelope (e.g., doors and windows) will be replaced, and the outdoor layout will be completely redesigned. Energy efficiency will be significantly improved, and more than 30 trees will be planted. In addition, to help mitigate flooding in the neighbourhood, a retention basin will be created.
Prior to the start of construction, the SHDM organized an information meeting to inform residents living near the Gordon building about the upcoming work. Around twenty residents took part.
It should be noted that the Gordon project is supported by the governments of Canada and Québec, as well as by the City of Montréal.
Congratulations to our real estate development team, which is making every effort to deliver this project by early 2027.
