Update as of February 9th:
The situation is now stable in all eight buildings, and the relocated tenants have returned to their respective units.
Following the widespread power outage on Sunday, January 25, in the Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce borough—caused by equipment failure at a Hydro-Québec facility and affecting a large number of buildings in the area—the heating systems in some of our buildings were shut down, resulting in burst pipes, leaks, and difficulties restoring heat.
Despite the continuous presence of the SHDM teams and contracted workers assigned to resolve the situation, issues persist. Some buildings also had to be evacuated to facilitate the necessary interventions.
The affected buildings are:
- 5360 Walkley Street – 23 units
- 5440 Walkley Street – 23 units (Partially evacuated)
- 7025 Fielding Street – 14 units
- 7045 Fielding Street – 14 units (temporary evacuation)
- 7055 Fielding Street – 14 units (temporary evacuation)
- 7085 Fielding Street – 14 units
- 7115 Fielding Street – 14 units (temporary evacuation)
- 7135 Fielding Street – 14 units
For tenants affected by the evacuations
Our teams are personally contacting each individual to offer appropriate assistance, and the Red Cross is also on-site to provide temporary accommodation.
For tenants whose units have sustained damage
Our teams will visit all units starting next week to assess and plan the necessary repairs.
The SHDM is aware of the inconvenience caused by this situation and is fully mobilized to resolve it. Our customer service line is open 24/7 during this period for affected tenants.
We thank all tenants for their understanding and usual cooperation.
