The SHDM secures affordable rents for 40 additional housing units

SHDM is acquiring a new building, making it possible to maintain affordable rents in the long term for 40 additional housing units in the Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie borough.

Located at 4435 rue de Bellechasse, this building has 12 studios, 13 3 ½ and 15 4 ½ that can accommodate families. With this new acquisition, the SHDM now owns 4,887 affordable residential units across the island of Montreal.

« This acquisition allows the SHDM to increase its property portfolio of affordable rental housing to meet the urgent housing needs in Montreal, in a central neighborhood which is in high demand, » said Nancy Shoiry, Executive Director of the SHDM. For the past six months, the SHDM has pursued its acquisition strategy at a sustained pace; 119 additional units spread over three buildings will be able to remain affordable in the long term.
