The SHDM secures affordable rents for 40 additional housing units

SHDM is acquiring a new building, making it possible to maintain affordable rents in the long term for 40 additional housing units in the Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie borough.
Located at 4435 rue de Bellechasse, this building has 12 studios, 13 3 ½ and 15 4 ½ that can accommodate families. With this new acquisition, the SHDM now owns 4,887 affordable residential units across the island of Montreal.
« This acquisition allows the SHDM to increase its property portfolio of affordable rental housing to meet the urgent housing needs in Montreal, in a central neighborhood which is in high demand, » said Nancy Shoiry, Executive Director of the SHDM. For the past six months, the SHDM has pursued its acquisition strategy at a sustained pace; 119 additional units spread over three buildings will be able to remain affordable in the long term. We are proud to contribute, within the framework of our mission, to the housing crisis with concrete solutions”.
