The SHDM supports a major greening project on its Terrasse Saint-Michel site

The Terrasse Saint-Michel site, belonging to the SHDM, welcomed a large-scale greening project. This initiative, coordinated by Ville en vert with the support of One Tree Planted, was made possible thanks to the financial contribution of Cirque du Soleil and the involvement of its volunteer employees. Nearly 100 trees and shrubs were planted on a perfectly sunny day.

Carried out as part of Vert le Nord, this project contributes to the fight against urban heat islands and improving the quality of life of residents.

The SHDM is proud to support this initiative, which will improve the well-being of its tenants, while greening the neighborhood.

Terrasse Saint-Michel includes 112 affordable housing units spread over 14 buildings in the Villeray – Saint-Michel – Parc-Extension boroughs.

Workshops to launch the gardening season

Each year, the SHDM offers residents of several of its Autonomie+ buildings (reserved for autonomous customers aged 55 and over) the chance to garden during the summer season. Planting trays and soil are made available for growing flowers, fruit or vegetables. This year, in collaboration with the YAM organization, gardening workshops were organized to launch the season. 25 residents had the opportunity to benefit from urban agriculture advice from this social economy organization, whose mission is to deploy high-impact environmental projects in the community.
In all, more than 75 gardens will be cultivated this summer in 10 Autonomie+ buildings.

These types of projects help to strengthen neighborly ties and increase involvement in the environment, while improving living conditions and providing access to fresh produce.
