At the side of the elderly people
Today is the World Elder Abuse Awareness Day. The SHDM underlines the importance of taking care of the most vulnerable, to act against isolation and abuse.
That’s why the SHDM is collaborating with the SPVM and various community organizations to the »Visiter une personne aînée isolée » in its Autonomie+ buildings, for an autonomous clientele aged 55 and over. Throughout the month of June, outreach workers and SPVM socio-community agents will go door-to-door in 9 buildings, to raise awareness among tenants about the fight against abuse, fraud and theft. They will refer tenants who need it to the appropriate resources for personalized follow-up.
Together, let’s act for the good treatment of the elderly people!

Stronger together this Mother's Day !
The SHDM is pleased to support Stronger together this Mother’s Day, a Mères avec pouvoir‘s campaign.
As we celebrate Mother’s Day on Sunday, we invite you to (re)discover this organization that aims to promote the optimal development and well-being of low- and moderate-income single mothers and their child(ren) to ensure their social and professional integration. Mères avec pouvoir facilitates the progress of women through access to transitional social housing , community and individual support and a place in a daycare for their children.
You too can be part of the success stories of these women.

New appointment to the Board of directors
Ville de Montreal and the Société d’habitation et de développement de Montréal (SHDM) are pleased to announce the appointment of Suze Youance to the SHDM’s Board of Directors as well as the renewal of the term of office of three other members for a period of two years, namely Robert Juneau and Alain Lapointe, as Directors, and Johanne Brunet, as Board Chair.
These appointments, confirmed at the meeting of Ville de Montréal’s Executive Committee on April 14, 2021, are effective immediately. In accordance with the SHDM’s bylaws, Ville de Montréal’s Executive Committee is responsible for appointing its directors, who are chosen to represent a wide range of relevant skills in order to guide the organization in its strategic choices and ensure sound governance.
« On behalf of the Board of Directors, I would like to welcome Mrs. Youance and wish her the best of success. I am delighted that the SHDM will be able to benefit from her knowledge and expertise, » stated Johanne Brunet, Chair of the SHDM’s Board of Directors. « The renewal of Mr. Juneau’s and Mr. Lapointe’s terms of office reflects their significant contribution to the SHDM. And lastly, I am touched by the trust and confidence placed in me with the renewal of my own term of office as Board Chair.
About Suze Youance
With a PhD in Engineering from École de technologie supérieure (ÉTS), Suze Youance has diversified experience and recognized expertise in structural typology and seismic vulnerability (heritage buildings, school and hospital buildings, residences). Her experience in project management and her excellent communication skills have led her to become a television hostess, university lecturer, consultant, and associate professor, in Québec and Haiti. Involved in the Montréal community, Mrs. Youance is a volunteer in activities promoting women in engineering at ÉTS and is Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors of the Bureau de la communauté haïtienne à Montréal (BCHM).

New partnership for the P$ Montréal Centre-Ville pilot project
SHDM is pleased to announce a new partnership with The Agence de mobilité durable in collaboration with the Ville de Montréal, by adding its Îlot Balmoral building parking lot to the P$ Montréal Centre-Ville pilot project. From march 1st, this initiative will allow downtown visitors to take advantage of various existing private parking lots’ offer and thus reduce the time it will take to find a parking space.

Two appointments to the Board of Directors
Ville de Montréal and the Société d’habitation et de développement de Montréal (SHDM) are pleased to announce the appointment of Clotilde Tarditi and Élodie Postel to the Board of Directors of the SHDM.
The appointment of Clotilde Tarditi and Élodie Postel, approved at Ville de Montréal’s Executive Committee meeting on July 8, 2020, takes effect immediately. In accordance with the SHDM’s articles of incorporation, Ville de Montréal’s Executive Committee is responsible for appointing its directors, who are chosen to represent a variety of relevant skills to guide the organization in its strategic choices and ensure sound governance.
Robert Beaudry, a member of Ville de Montréal’s Executive Committee and responsible for real estate management and planning, housing, major parks and Parc Jean-Drapeau, is delighted with the arrival of the two new directors on the Board of the SHDM: « We are very pleased that the SHDM can benefit from the experience of Mrs. Tarditi and Mrs. Postel. Carrying out real estate projects that are structuring for the community is particularly important in Montréal and there is no doubt that their combined expertise will make a substantial contribution to the development of our city. »
« Ville de Montréal is making significant efforts in terms of specific representativeness within decision-making bodies, among other things, with respect to parity and diversity. I am therefore delighted that the appointment of these two new directors follows the recommendations made by the Office de consultation publique sur le racisme et la discrimination systémique, » stated Cathy Wong, who is responsible for diversity, employment inclusion, the French language and the fight against racism and discrimination on Ville de Montréal’s Executive Committee.

About Clotilde Tarditi
Clotilde Tarditi is the Executive Director of the Corporation d’habitation Jeanne-Mance (CHJM). Working in the social housing sector for a number of years, she is recognized for her expertise in socio-community development and social intervention as well as for her skills in change management, leadership and strategic analysis. Prior to joining the CHJM, Mrs. Tarditi held management positions at the Ville d’Échirolles (France) and the Confédération Nationale du Logement de l’Isère (France).
About Élodie Postel
Élodie Postel is a member of the Ordre des architectes du Québec and has solid experience in strategic planning, business development and project management. Over the course of her career, she has had the opportunity to coordinate a large number of residential, institutional and commercial architectural projects. In addition to having founded and presided over her own company (S.O.S archis), Mrs. Postel has worked at FABRIQ architecture, Cardin Ramirez Julien architects and Zaraté+Lavignes architects.
